1st grade collaborated with the teacher-librarian to conduct research on ocean animals. Students visited the LMC with their research flip books and investigated assigned questions about their ocean animal. The teachers and teacher-librarian modeled for students how to find information on PebbleGo, a Flagstaff Safe Searching resource designed for grades K-2, and put information into their own words and cite their source. Students also learned how to take facts and put them into terms other students could understand, e.g., 50 1st grade students can stand on a Blue Whales tongue.

Students took the information and migrated it into a newspaper article/poster template they customized. News article posters were scanned and uploaded to Google Presentation so the whole world can learn about ocean animals and enjoy the students creativity.
